CARE INSTRUCTIONS

BAREBONE Care Instructions

Every BAREBONE piece is made to be worn, loved, and worn again. Behind the way they look and feel is a level of craft that deserves a little attention. These care instructions exist not to complicate your routine, but to protect your investment and ensure every piece continues to perform exactly as it should — from the first wear to the hundredth.

PERIOD UNDERWEAR

Care Instructions

First Wash Before wearing for the first time, give your underwear a gentle hand wash or machine wash on a delicate cycle. This prepares the fabric and ensures optimal performance from the start.

Color A slight softening of color after the initial wash is completely normal and has no effect on the product's functionality or quality.

Washing Wash separately from other garments to protect the integrity of the fabric. Use a gentle cycle with a mild, fragrance-free detergent. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners — these degrade the technical layers that make your underwear work.

Drying Air dry only. Lay flat or hang to dry away from direct sunlight. Tumble drying is not recommended, as heat can compromise the fabric's structure over time.

PASTIES & SILICONE BRAS

Care Instructions

Before Use Your pasties and silicone bras arrive clean and ready to wear — no pre-wash necessary. Simply peel, position, and go.

Before applying, ensure the skin is clean, dry, and completely free of lotions, oils, perfumes, or creams. Clean skin is the key to a secure, comfortable hold.

Cleaning After each use, gently cleanse with a small drop of mild baby wash — we recommend Johnson's Head to Toe Baby Shampoo — and warm water. This removes skin oils and residue while preserving the adhesive. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely. Do not pat dry with a towel or use a blow dryer.

Soaps to Avoid Please do not use bar soaps, moisturising soaps, antibacterial soaps, dish soap, laundry detergent, face wash, or any soap containing oils, milk, or fragrance (including Cetaphil, Dove, Safeguard, Kojic, and similar). These will permanently damage the adhesive.

Storage Once dry, place adhesive-side down on the provided plastic film or in the storage case. Keeping the protective film is essential — it preserves the adhesive between wears and keeps your pieces clean and ready.

Dome Do not press the adhesive side onto the hard plastic dome of the packaging. This will cause damage to the product.

What Degrades the Adhesive — and Why It Matters

The adhesive on your BAREBONE pasties and silicone bras is a precision-engineered layer. It is designed to be reusable, but only when treated with care. The following are the most common causes of adhesive breakdown — understanding them will help you get the most out of every pair.

Sweat and Body Moisture Sweat is the adhesive's most frequent adversary. The combination of salt, water, and natural body acids in perspiration breaks down the silicone bond over time, causing it to lose its grip and become tacky or uneven. This is why we recommend applying your pasties to completely dry skin, and why excessive physical activity or heat exposure will shorten their lifespan. After each wear, washing away sweat residue promptly is essential — allowing it to dry on the adhesive accelerates degradation.

Fabric Lint and Dust Even a single layer of lint or fine fabric fibres embedded in the adhesive surface is enough to compromise its effectiveness. Once lint bonds to the silicone, it cannot be fully removed, and the affected area will no longer adhere properly to the skin. Always store your pasties adhesive-side down on the protective film immediately after drying, and keep them away from clothing, towels, and surfaces that shed fibres. Never place them adhesive-side up on any fabric.

Dry and Flaking Skin Dead skin cells transfer onto the adhesive during wear and act as a barrier between the silicone and fresh skin. Over time, this build-up reduces the adhesive's contact area, weakening its hold. Washing the adhesive gently after each use removes this residue. We also recommend ensuring your skin is well-moisturised in the days leading up to wear — but on the day itself, the chest area should be completely product-free before application.

Heat Sustained or intense heat softens and warps the silicone structure, permanently altering the adhesive layer. Avoid storing your pasties in direct sunlight, in a hot car, near a heat source, or in any environment where temperatures run high. Do not use a blow dryer, iron, or any heat-based method to speed up drying. Always air dry at room temperature in a cool, shaded space. High-heat environments during wear — such as saunas, steam rooms, or prolonged sun exposure — will also reduce the adhesive's longevity.

Hard Water and Mineral Deposits Tap water in many areas contains dissolved minerals — particularly calcium and magnesium — that leave microscopic deposits on surfaces as water evaporates. When used to rinse your pasties, hard water can leave a thin mineral film over the adhesive that dulls its stickiness and creates an uneven surface. If you live in an area with hard water, we recommend using filtered or bottled water for the final rinse, or gently wiping the adhesive with a damp cloth dampened with distilled water to minimise mineral build-up.

Oils and Skincare Residue Natural skin oils, as well as residue from moisturisers, sunscreen, serums, and perfumes, coat the adhesive and prevent it from bonding cleanly to the skin. Even trace amounts — left over from products applied hours earlier — can be enough to affect adhesion. Always cleanse the chest area thoroughly before wearing and allow the skin to settle for a few minutes before applying.

The adhesive on your BAREBONE pieces is durable when properly maintained. Treat it with the same attention you give the rest of your routine, and it will continue to perform beautifully wear after wear.
